Support

We offer several evaluation kits, which are unquestionably the easiest way to introduce yourself to the technology and evaluate its suitability for your program. With the product support package, you can have your product up and running in months, weeks, or even days. For more information on our evaluation kits, support packages, or if your question is not answered in the following panels, please contact us at support@aurorawirelessnetworks.com.

A lot of work has gone into making the technology easy to use, and the following resources are designed to help you navigate your way. Please click on one of the questions below for more information:

FAQs

Only if you charge people to use your network or if you use cellular or satellite connections as your IP gateway.
Aurora Wireless Network products take advantage of license free spectrum. However, you must ensure that your network complies with important requirements enforced by your local regulatory authority (for example the FCC (US), IC (Canada), ACMA (Australia), ETSI (Europe)).
Check out the technology page for some important rules of thumb. There are also a number of tools available on the web to help you estimate the expected range for your terrain. Most importantly remember to keep interfering electronics at a safe distance.

The most likely answer is yes! Please let us know the details. When you purchase a custom evaluation kit we will work with you to design a customized evaluation kit for your application so that you can test it out yourself.
Everything from advice to hands-on, on-site, support to fully custom engineering. We want you up and running as quickly as possible.
With embedded application code the whole system can be self-contained. However, typically the endpoints will be either stand-alone or control various sensors while the base will be connected to a host. More options for the base are expected in the future.
It is helpful to have experience working with RF and with technology in general, however, the evaluation kit is designed to be operated with a minimal technical background.
Plans are underway to offer a number of different integrated interfaces off the shelf. Many interfaces such as cellular and satellite are currently supported for custom designs.

The fundamental difference is that the Bluetooth range is measured in meters, not kilometers. Bluetooth has a lot of advantages including low cost and ubiquity. Aurora wireless network technology is more comparable to cellular. You can think of it as cellular technology optimized for range and battery life.

Troubleshooting Tips

The following are issues you may potentially run into, with tips on solving them. For ease of setup, we offer several support options, including an annual paid subscription and inclusive evaluation kit packages.

Start by making sure that your antennae are clear of obstructions and immediate sources of interference. Then please visit the technology page for simple rules of thumb. If you still feel that there is an inconsistency please let us know. We are constantly on the hunt for ways to improve range.
First, make sure nothing is drawing energy directly from your batteries. Even something like an LED can have a dramatic impact on battery life. Second, please visit the technology page for more information. If you still feel that there is an inconsistency please let us know. We are constantly on the hunt for ways to improve the battery life.
The endpoint is always ON and making sure that it is connected to the network even if you are not exchanging information. Occasionally it may detect a problem with the link and take the necessary steps to heal itself. When it does built-in diagnostics will let you know. If you see this happening repeatedly there may be a problem. Please contact us at support@aurorawirelessnetworks.com.
The core has its own energy supply isolated from the battery or power supply. Much like a flash for a camera, this gives it the energy it needs to send out a high powered burst of RF energy even though the battery or supply connected is not capable of doing that. When you start up from a cold start the internal supply needs to be charged up. Depending on the battery or supply being used this could take several seconds or even minutes.
In order to conserve energy, the GPS is only powered when it is required. This is very tricky to do because accurate GPS requires tracking multiple satellites as they move across the sky. If every time the GPS is powered on different satellites are visible (because, for example, buildings are in the way), it will have to take the time to find the new ones and it may not acquire them in time or it may make an inaccurate estimate.
